Model Rocket Kits
Model rockets come in kit form from a manufacturer such as Estes, Custom, DynaStar, etc. and in various skill levels from beginner to master modeler. Model rocket kits will have the skill level listed on the package or by clicking more information on our listings. The parts are mostly made from balsa, heavy duty paper and plastic. Step by step instructions will guide you through assembly using various types of glue such as Elmer's white, yellow wood glue or plastic cement.
The first thing you need to do is decide on the kind of rocket you would like to use to begin enjoying your new hobby. The most basic model rockets are easy to assemble and are usually referred to as E2X. E2X model rocket kits contain parts that are pre-colored, self-stick decals, plastic fins or fin units and a plastic nose cone. Glue the parts together as instructed, apply the self-stick decals and attach the recovery system. Then all you need to do is setup your launch system, pack the parachute or streamer with recovery wadding, install the engine and it is ready to fly.
The next step up from the E2X skill level would be skill level 1, which usually requires some sanding and painting in addition to the skills need to build an E2X kit. As the skill level number goes up so does the level of difficulty that is required to build the model rocket.
