Description

The origins of the Ford’s GT40 MKIV is marred by tragedy. It began in 1966 with the J-Car just after Le Mans. Ken Miles was test driving the car when it crashed on an embankment, bursting into flames. The rest is heavy-hearted history. Ford went back to the drawing board, the result being the MKIV chassis. There were only 10 made, only half of which ever actually raced in only 2 major races: Sebring ’67 and Le Mans ’67.

The J7 chassis was one of the MKIV renditions lucky enough to make it to the famous track at Le Mans. Copper colored and donning the #3, it sped through the raceway with Andretti at the helm. He’d held an impressive second place for most of the race when he came in for a standard pitstop. A teammate of Andretti’s who drove the #1 car arrived seconds after him. The driver, A.J. Foyt immediately began complaining about Andretti’s trademark aggressive driving and an argument ensued. Distracted by the kerfuffle, a crew member accidentally installed one of Andretti’s brake pads backwards. At 3:30AM Andretti left the pit. Upon approaching the first turn he hit the non-existent brakes and the car wrecked. Thankfully he walked away unscathed. And just like that, his incredible second place position was no more.

The Mega-G+ is easily the lightest chassis you can buy. Add that to the lowest center of gravity and you get a car that is fast and nimble. Most realistic. Best Performance. Fun to drive. What a combination!

The AFX Mega-G+ HO slot cars are best driven with a 90 or 120 ohm controller such as the AFX 21036 120 ohm controller.

Chassis: Mega-G+ Short (1.5 inch) wheelbase chassis without the body clip

Features: clear windows, extra long tapered guide pin, level 30 neodymium traction magnets, durable Nylatron chassis material, long lasting high carbon motor brushes, fully assembled and ready to race on most HO scale slot car tracks including AFX, Auto World, Life Like, Tyco, etc.

Includes:  1 - Ford GT40 Mark IV #3 Le Mans HO slot car.

Note:  Recommended for ages 8 to adult.

This is a great car at a fair price. These cars run and handle great right out of the package. Fun to run or collect.

Has all the power of the Mega-G+ and the details of the real GT40. She’s beautiful and there’s a lot of attention to detail.

Fast chassis, made well but hard to tell exact color of product in package on the internet. No problems with shipper or communications with them.

    AFX Mega-G+ Ford Mark IV

Nice looking body with high (for HO scale) detail. Good paint work. The downside is the Mega G+ chassis. Undrivable out of the package! I had to dink with the shoe springs to get it to stop bouncing down the straights on my Bowman routed track. Make sure you buy Viper light Mega G+ springs to replace stock.
