A model train locomotive equipped with a mobile DCC decoder takes the signals from the track and, after rectification, routes power to the electric motor as requested. Each DCC decoder is given a unique address for the model train layout, and will not act on commands intended for a different decoder, thus providing independent control of locomotives anywhere on the layout, without special wiring requirements.
MRC has a broad range of DCC decoders that operate with any NMRA compatible DCC system and fit most popular HO scale locomotives. The MRC DCC sound decoders have a speaker socket for use with an MRC 8-Ohm speaker (sold separately). We recommend the largest speaker that will fit inside the loco shell since the bigger the speaker the better the sound quality.
