The GP38-2 is a powerful 2000 horsepower four-axle diesel-electric locomotive. Designed as a General Purpose road switcher, this locomotive was built by General Motors, Electro-Motive Division. Many GP38-2’s remain in service today due to the ease of maintenance and exceptional reliability.

This Bachmann HO EMD GP38-2 GMTX diesel locomotive is not only smooth running but looks the part with its prototypical paint scheme, scale details and an operating headlight. It even comes DCC ready with a factory-installed 8-pin plug for an easy DCC decoder installation.

Additional features: all-wheel drive, can motor, die-cast chassis, E-Z Mate Mark II magnetic couplers w/ metal coil springs and is compatible with conventional DC powered layouts.

For use on a DC powered HO scale train track or can be converted to DCC with the installation of an 8-pin DCC decoder. Performs best on 18" curves or greater.
