The MRC Prodigy Express Squared DCC (Digital Command Control) system with it's reliable and easy to use DCC train controls will enhance the enjoyment of your train layout for many years to come. From a beginner's 4x8 layout to a massive club layout, the Prodigy Express Squared allows for easy expansion and upgrades to give you everything you want. The Prodigy Express Squared comes as a complete DCC system with a command station (base unit), LCD cab/handheld with cable & a power supply.

The system is so user friendly that the quick start instructions are printed on the back of the handheld. No need to know about hexadecimals, no difference in address programming 2 digits or 4, and you can program while still operating other locos. Prodigy Express Squared is so advanced, it's simple.

The Prodigy Express Squared is Plug & Play with any N and HO scale model train layout including Bachmann E-Z track and Kato Unitrack. We recommend purchasing an additional feeder (terminal) straight track for use as a separate program track for those DCC decoder equipped locomotives which don't support programming on the main track.

The Prodigy Express Squared can be easily upgraded to ALL the additional features of a Prodigy Advance Squared (click on the chart at the top of this listing) by purchasing either the MRC Prodigy Advance Squared handheld, the MRC Prodigy Wireless conversion set or the MRC computer interface. If you want to be able to control multiple DCC decoder equipped locomotives on the same track with separate handheld controls for two operators, then purchase the 1501 MRC extension plate which allows both the Prodigy Express Squared handheld and a Prodigy Advance Squared handheld (sold separately) to be connected to the base unit.

The Prodigy Express Squared is rated at 2 amps which is enough power to control at least three DCC decoder equipped HO scale locomotives at the same time. If you need more power, you can upgrade to the 1504 Prodigy Advance Squared power supply (sold separately) which increases the current rating of the Prodigy Express Squared System to 2.5 amps for running at least four DCC decoder equipped HO scale locomotives at the same time.

Note:  This DCC system is not compatible with analog DC locomotives. Any analog DC locomotive(s) would need to be converted to DCC by installing the appropriate DCC decoder into each locomotive.
